About

I can’t imagine a world without poetry and song.  It’s how I relate to the world around me and the world I have yet to experience. Over the years, I have written about all sorts of subjects: people, places, inanimate objects, nature – many of the subjects that make up this collection of twenty poems in “Like A Love Song”.

In my opening poem, “Butterflies and Rainbows,” written in 2022 and expanded into a love song released in May 2025 with the same title, I write how when I think of summer and carefree days, it’s the butterfly that comes to mind, fluttering away, and brightly colored rainbows that brighten my day. I’d always thought that it could be the lead verse for a love song, but I struggled coming up with the next line. Then, on April 7, 2025, at the stroke of midnight, that line finally came to me – “Love is a wonderful feeling when all the world seems right”. Fifty-three takes later, at 4:36 am, the song was finished. Subsequently, I met Maia, who designed the album cover, and the album cover was approved for distribution on May 13. With “The Bond,” I couldn’t conceive of violence against this neighbor of mine who stops by from time to time to dine. More inquisitive than most, I can’t tell who is more intrigued by our encounter, the deer or me.

In “Sea Glass,” I search the beach in vain for this time-worn treasure. It is the possibility of discovery that excites me with each step, and isn’t that what life is all about?

Like “Resilience,” I too have stood the test of time, the years washing over me with life’s struggles and challenges, and yet every day, every moment, a new chapter is written, and I am still able to write it.

In “East Matunuck in the Winter,” I express how calm returns to feast on the beauty of the beach in Winter, no tents, no umbrellas anchored into the sand, just the sound of wind and waves breaking on the shore once more.
