Trip to The MET: Design for the Saint Lawrence Portal on the North Side of Strasbourg Cathedral

A few months ago, I took a trip to NYC and spent a morning at The MET. I will be blogging a six-part series analyzing works that caught my eye and why.

Design for the Saint Lawrence Portal on the North Side of Strasbourg Cathedral (Jakob von Landshut, 1494)

This work is a pen-and-ink drawing of a design for the Saint Lawrence Portal on the north side of Strasbourg Cathedral in France. It is currently on loan to the museum, so I felt incredibly lucky to see it. The photos I took do not do the drawing justice in terms of its detail and preservation. I would love to visit it again!
