Resources for Artists

From sketchbook practice to color palettes, here are some of my go-to resources!

Line of Action

This free site provides drawing references for artists, including figure drawings, animal references, and facial expressions. The blog also hosts a variety of forums where artists can learn and receive advice! One of my figure-drawing professors introduced me to this site during the pandemic, since we didn’t have access to live figure models for class.

Perchance Color Generator

This free site lets you generate a random color palette. I like to use this when I’m sketching and warming up. Working in a limited palette can improve your skills in color and value. I discovered this site while I was trying to find color palettes for a design project during my foundation year.

HueMint

This free site allows you to generate and/or customize color palettes AND see them in action. From website to packaging mockups, it’s a great tool for designers to quickly discern color options for projects. One of my peers introduced this website during a graphic design project senior year!

I will continue to add new resources as blog posts!
